Bako is a very talented basketball player with boundless enthusiasm and natural ability. He played for the U11’s Sussex team last year and helped them win the county tournament. He has since been selected to play for Brighton Cougars U14 National League Team and clearly has a huge potential. His mother has struggled financially and he wouldn’t be able to continue to attend all the necessary training sessions without our support. We have been able to award funding towards club fees, camps, travel and new basketball shoes.
Bako’s mum:
I feel very grateful and relieved that Bako has received this funding opportunity from Starr Trust as with it Bako can now participate in all the teams training and matches available so he can progress in his basketball that he loves and has great talent for.
Bako:
I’m so happy that I have got this funding, hopefully it will help me succeed in basketball. I am a family person and basketball is my passion. Thank you Starr Trust.
We are thrilled to see our young Starr Bako making it into the GB Basketball Squad! He has worked hard for it from September 2019 through to when we went into lockdown earlier this year. He has been whole-heartedly committed to intensive training sessions, 6 days a week, before and after school, often starting at 6am and not finishing until 11pm. Lots of travel for away matches at weekends while still keeping up his school work. Starr Trust Chairman, Rob Starr, said; "Bako’s hard work and determination has really paid off and it’s brilliant to see one of our young stars achieve so much at such a young age; he will go on to achieve great things in life with this inspiring commitment and attitude." We asked Bako for a comment on this amazing achievement; "I worked hard for it and I’m so happy. Thank you to all who have supported me to achieve this."
Bako won a further award for basketball training. His mum says: "My son has shown incredible resilience and determination in pursuing basketball. I am so proud of Bako keeping his chin up all because of his commitment to basketball. So for the Starr Trust to support him to continue his season ahead is amazing and a relief. Thankyou for giving Bako this opportunity enabling him to pursue basketball as without the Starr Trust he could not continue." Bako says: “I am so grateful to the Starr Trust for supporting me with my basketball. My mum couldn't continue with the cost of travel, kit or club membership. I can now focus on getting to training and matches and going to the next level. Thankyou.”
We are funding to help further with club fees, camps, travel and new basketball shoes. Bako recently was asked to play for the under 16s National Premier team.
