Virgin Active is our Business of the Month

Our Business of the Month for March is Virgin Active.This month we have chosen Virgin Active at Falmer as our Business of the Month and would like to highlight the brilliant support they have given us over the years. From hosting Spinathons to running other fundraising events organised by their highly committed staff, they have been a long term supporter of the Starr Trust.Going above and beyond this year, a Virgin staff member, Fran Dirand, has signed up as Head Team Leader for our brilliant Brighton to Amsterdam Bike Ride coming up this June. She has already taken teams of cyclists on practice rides across Sussex and kindly given up her Sundays to do this. The Virgin Active Falmer Manager, Chris Gilkes, has also agreed to come with us on our charity bike ride as a Team Leader. Along with Fran and Chris, we have many staff and club members joining us on the ride. We are so grateful to Virgin Active and their staff for all they do for us.Chris Gilkes told us:“Back in 2014 Virgin Active, the UK’s leading health club chain, in collaboration with leading sports charities and educational organisations, launched a five-year Active Inspiration campaign to help tackle rising levels of youth inactivity. The work that the Starr Trust does locally dovetails perfectly with those aims and having witnessed the genuine enthusiasm of the Starr Trust team to change the lives of young people, allied with my passion for cycling, I felt that this was the perfect opportunity to support the Trust to continue the great work that they do by acting as a support rider during their latest fund raising event - supporting riders who are undertaking the Brighton to Amsterdam charity ride in June 2019”.
