The Steinbeck and Shaw Charity Golf Day was held at The Dyke Golf Club on Friday 9th October and was attended by 44 avid golfers. Under current government regulations, staggered starts and strict social distancing measures were put in place but did not hinder the success of the day. The event ran smoothly, and the rain held off until the end. Thanks to fundraising throughout the day, they managed to raise over £1,700, helping to fund ongoing projects and services that the Starr Trust are supporting during these critical times.
Toby Graves, the 24-year-old professional golfer and managing director of TPG Sports Events, organised the Golf Day in aid of the Starr Trust.
The team of Seaside Drinking Club, Oli Graves, Nick Wright, Tom Yates and Reece Gayler took home the trophy and a voucher for £30 to spend in the Dyke Proshop.
Jon Saunders, General Manager at Steinbeck and Shaw, commented:
"Thanks to everyone who attended and supported such a fun day. It shows the spirit of the business community in Brighton that even in tough times, as we are in, they are willing to come and support local charity so well. Thanks also to Toby Graves from TPG Sports Events for putting it all together and Rosie and Tracey from the Starr trust who were awesome all the way through. Here's to next year!"
Organiser Toby Graves expressed his delight following the success of the charity golf day. He said:
"Firstly I would like to thank everyone for attending the day in support of the Starr Trust. Without your support we cannot raise much-needed funds for the Starr Trust and all they do in the community. Thank you to all the sponsors on the day and to The Dyke for letting us have the course for the whole day. Well done to everyone who took part and congratulations to winners Seaside Drinking Club".
Our Fundraising Manager Tracey thanked Toby for his support. She says:
"We were delighted to be the chosen charity for Steinbeck and Shaw’s first Golf Day. The day was organised by Toby Graves from TPG Sports Events, and it ran like clockwork; we were very impressed with how smoothly it went. It was great in the current climate to see so many businesses supporting such an event".
Fundraising activities on the day included a raffle, the longest drive and nearest the pin, as well as a ‘Beat the Starr’ competition, where our budding young Starr McKenzie was challenging players to get nearest to the 9th hole!
