Starr Pioneers Update

So its farewell to CHOCS and hello to Starr Pioneers! Our final CHOCS project came to an end at Varndean with an incredible fundraising total and some wonderful feedback from students.“I’ve learned that raising money is not that difficult, because we’re just a group of people and we’ve managed to organise and raise thousands of pounds. So if we ever wanted to do something like this again it wouldn’t be such a challenge as I thought it would be at the beginning.”-Ellis, Starr Pioneers Student, Varndean CHOCS 2013/14Our huge thanks to all at Varndean School for helping us to build this programme over four years. Without them we would have never got started and we are eternally grateful. We’re excited to announce the start of a new partnership with Brighton Aldridge Community Academy, starting in September. We will be running Starr Pioneers at BACA with students in Years 7 and 8, a first for us working with this age group. BACA are pioneering a new approach to learning that fits perfectly with our ethos of student led programmes and we’re looking forward to working together to learn from each other. We have a new mentoring partnership with Lloyds TSB and our old friends at the Grand Hotel will also be working with a student team, supporting schools in Rwanda and Uganda through another new partner, Lessons for Life, a charity which provides educational opportunities for young people in 7 different countries in East Africa.
