St Christopher’s Dash to Raise Money to Champion Local Young People

Despite it being a dull and damp morning, 20 fantastic runners donned Santa suits and beards and ran along Hove Seafront to raise money for the Starr Trust. The 5k Santa Dash took place from the Peace statue with a nice flat run along to Hove Lagoon and back again. The runners were from Nelson House, St Christopher’s School in Hove who are supporting the Starr Trust for the year 2013/14 and raising money in a variety of different ways.Alex Lawson, a parent at the school, said “We arrived early at the beach front on the cold sunny morning, along with hundreds of others to dress up as Santa and run to the lagoon and back! Sounds like a very strange thing to do – but was so fun! The children had their 400 metre race to the sound of Christmas Carols blasting over the sound system, followed by the starting sound, and hundreds of identical Santas made their way down the promenade… starting quite pacey and quickly slowing, some were stopping for mulled wine – one brave lady did it on stilts and there was even what can only be described as the ‘real’ Santa jogging along to the sound of jingly bells!”Liane Morrison from St Christopher’s says “Nelson House at St. Christopher’s Hove were keen to support a charity that was both local and that benefits children. As the Starr Trust supports local children to fulfil their potential and achieve their goals at a time when they really need it, it is a charity that pupils, staff and parents alike can really empathise with; we hope that we can play a small role in lending a helping hand.”The total amount of money raised by the school is yet to be announced, but it has already raised over £700.
