An all day fundraising Spinathon, held at Virgin Active on Saturday March 7th, raised over £8000 for the Starr Trust and the Starlight Children’s Foundation.Spinathon classes kicked off at 8am and ran hourly for both members and non-members of the Virgin Active Club, where all the sports and leisure facilities were kindly donated for free on the day. Hundreds of people came along to this fantastic event; children enjoyed face painting and entertainment while the adults were given lots of treats to keep them spinning and later enjoyed a delicious supper in the Club Restaurant. Over one hundred businesses and individuals from across Sussex supported the event through donations, sponsorship and gifting some fantastic raffle prizes.Proceeds from the day will go to both the Starr Trust and Starlight charities. Starlight grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children and local mother Nadia, whose daughter was diagnosed with cancer last July, wanted to find a way of thanking Starlight for the support they offered her family last year at such a difficult time. She decided to also team up with the Starr Trust, to support disadvantaged children and young people who really need help, by providing grants and mentoring that make the world of difference.This was a real Sussex community enterprise and the Starr Trust and Starlight are so grateful to everyone who gave up their time and offered their support both before and during this incredibly fun and worthwhile event.Hear Rosie and Tracey from the Starr Trust interviewed about the Spinathon on Juice FM, below;
