Ice dance star Robin Cousins helped raise funds for the Trust when he performed at their afternoon tea in front of 132 guests at the Brighton Hilton Metropole Hotel. The audience, many of whom were from care homes in the city, and who were driven to and from the event by local community transport companies BHCT and CTLA, were served afternoon tea whilst they were treated to an afternoon of song by Robin and his two guests, local singers Sharon Starr and Rob Piatt.Tracey from the Trust says “Robin is a Patron for the charity, and really has helped us to raise money and awareness about who we are and what we do. We are so thankful that once again he shared his talent to help us raise money. Brighton Hilton Metropole is a huge supporter of the Starr Trust, and they kindly donated the use of the prestigious Clarence suite! Their staff, who always make us look so good with faultless service were once again fabulous”.Special thanks goes to staff at Lloyds Bank in Church Road, Hove for sending 7 volunteers to help us at the event, and also for agreeing to match the event penny for penny, which means that we raised over £2000.BHCT and CTLA were also amazing on the day, transporting our guests to and from their homes for free.In the audience was Brighton’s newest and popular celebrity Bernard Jordan, who recently made the headlines when he was reported missing from his Hove care home and was found to have made a last minute dash to be with his fellow World War II heroes in France.Proceeds from the event will go to the Starr Trust.
