Robin Cousins and his very special guest, West End legend Ruthie Henshall, appeared at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel for a festive concert of Christmas songs.Following the huge success of February’s “An Evening with Robin Cousins”, the star of ITV’s Dancing on Ice once again raised money in order to support the Starr Trust and their mission to champion local young people.Robin, who is Patron of the charity, wrote ‘When You Wish Upon a Christmas Starr’, which was held at Brighton Hilton Metropole on December 8th. Alongside himself and local singers, the concert featured very special guest Ruthie Henshall, whose multi-award winning career has seen her star in some of the most popular musicals of the past twenty five years - including Cats, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Crazy For You, She Loves Me and Chicago.Darren Abrahams, Director of Starr Trust, said “We are incredibly lucky to have Robin as a very active and supportive patron, and to have Ruthie join him in a Christmas event was even more exciting for us. Many of us at the Starr Trust have been fans for years and can’t quite believe she came and sang in an exclusive concert just for us.”The evening started with entertainment from local girl group The Doo-Wop Dolls, whilst guests were welcomed with a drink and a fish and chip supper. Then followed the Starr Trust Singers, who along with Robin and Ruthie sang Christmas favourites and their very own humorous version of Brighton twelve days of Christmas! The evening was promoted through Brighton Argus newspaper and was also supported by local businesses who donated raffle prizes including tickets for Robin’s show at the Brighton Centre, a stay at Brighton Hilton Metropole, tea at Kemp Town’s Tea Cozy, tickets for Proud Cabaret and Latest Music Bar and a prize from Denbies Wine. Tesco’s in Church Road, Hove and the Co-op in Blatchington Road donated thank you gifts to the cast.
