22nd June 2016Now in its second year, ‘Cooking for Starrs’, a fantastic dining experience held this June, raised £1500 for the Starr Trust. This sold out event saw student chefs Zoe Guile and Tyler Edwards go head-to-head in a competition to create a fabulous 6-course menu where diners vote on the winning dishes. They showcased their talents and wowed patrons with some culinary magic. With the help of head chef Russell Williams from Bailiffscourt Hotel and the College Tutors, these young chefs created an impressive menu with exquisitely presented food, all served in the lovely Arundel restaurant on campus.Guests were greeted with a glass of champagne courtesy of event sponsor the Hilton Brighton Metropole, and the front of house teams led by Lois and Connor worked hard to ensure that guests had an unforgettable experience and even created a Wine Flight to accompany the food.Tracey Narvaez from the Starr Trust told us “The event made £1500 and we’re so grateful to Sascha Koehler and Hilton Brighton Metropole for their sponsorship and the hard working tutors of Northbrook College who put in extra hours to run this evening. Guests enjoyed a delicious 6-course menu which enabled them to truly critique the food and presentation. Both teams did really well but it was Zoe Guile and her Red team that won, having created an exceptional menu. They will join Russell for a lovely cream tea at the prestigious Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa.”Young Zoe Guile was delighted to be declared the winner and has been studying at Northbrook College for 3 years. She told us that this project was a great opportunity for her, especially working alongside such an established Head Chef as Russell. Her plans for the future are to work in hotels and eventually own her own fish restaurant and we wish her every success.
