Sharon Starr and Darren Abrahams held an intimate concert in the Starr’s garden in aid of the Starr Trust on 14th May.
60 guests enjoyed an intimate evening of musical theatre old and new, such as songs from Anything Goes and Calamity Jane, to Come From Away and Dear Evan Hanson, with commentary in between. Held in the Starr’s garden, performers Sharon Starr and Darren Abrahams, brother and sister duo, were accompanied by Josh Winstone on the piano. A two act show, 1 hour each half with a sharing bread and cheese grazing board and chocolate strawberries in between the 2 acts.
Part of act 1 was a Disney medley of 16 songs, the audience all joined in, waving paper fish in the air during ‘Little Mermaid’, blowing bubbles for ‘Frozen’ and dancing to ‘Bare Necessities’. Each table competed in a competition who could name the most Disney films featured in the medley, with the winner receiving a bottle of champagne and Disney Princess chocolates.
By the end of the night, the whole audience were on their feet dancing and singing to ‘Xanadu’ and ‘Thank You For The Music’.
It was a hugely successful evening, the audience loved it and helped raise £2,200 from ticket sales, the bar and some generous donations towards Rob’s 52 x 52 Triathlon Challenge, which he spoke about on the night.
The evening was a family affair, Rob and Jesse Starr ran the bar, Asher and Mia Starr showed people to their seats and served the food, and production was by Sharon Starr.
Being such a success, they plan to make it an annual event!
