3rd February 2016The Events Department had a fantastic year with lots of new events enabling us to meet new local businesses and make friendships that will last going forward. We started our year as always with the quiz and Rat Pack at the China Garden. Then followed by our Spinathon where we collaborated with Starlight (children’s charity) on behalf of the Trust’s good friends Nadia Bushnell and family. With the help of Virgin Active and Sussex Life Magazine we raised an amazing £8000 in one day!Next all our budding chefs from Brighton City College, mentored by the fabulous Matt Gillan of The Pass South Lodge, went head to head in a cook off sponsored by The Hilton Brighton Metropole. We held a similar event at Northbrook College Worthing, mentored by Russell Williams of Bailiffscourt and sponsored by Southern Water. As well as raising funds this event gave the students (most in their final year) the fabulous chance to work with amazing chefs as well as the opportunity to gain employment. Then we went sporty! Our annual Golf Day, sponsored by Beales of Worthing and Collins and Hayes, attracted local businessmen with many of them sponsoring golf holes as well. We held our first ever multi-sport event “Starr Wars”, sponsored by Brighton and Hove Buses, raising over £6500 and attracting teams made up of businesses from all around the City. Finally we ended our year once again with our dear friends at The Hilton Brighton Metropole; our Winter Extravaganza show and dinner raised an incredible £18,000 profit including a £5000 donation from The Hilton and with 500 guests attending. What a lovely way to see 2015 out!
