A glittering occasion of style and glamour entitled Frocks and Cufflinks was hosted by the Starr Trust at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Regency Room early this week. As well as the fashion show the night featured Shooting Stars productions, showcasing A Musical Journey through the History of Fashion.Amongst the glamorous models were a number of employees from Virgin Active who strutted their stuff on the catwalk; make-up was provided by Dawn O’Donnell. Those taking part really put the fun into fundraising at the fashion show, volunteering their spare time towards the day, from catwalk modelling to helping out behind the scenes. In addition, the event was supported by a number of local businesses.Tracey Narvaez, Events Manager of the Starr Trust, said: “This is the first Fashion Show that the Trust has done and it’s been a fantastic success. We were overwhelmed by the generous support that the public gave us on the day. The £2767 raised will go towards our mission of championing local young people, helping them to achieve their dreams. Without the fantastic generosity of those attending the event we couldn’t accomplish half of what we do in helping to improving the lives of local young people.”The Musical featured showstoppers from ‘Grease’, the Spice Girls and ABBA, with a rousing finale of a rendition of the Trust’s own song called Every Child (Tabasumu), which means smile in Swahili. As well as the show itself, guests were treated to goodie bags containing hair and beauty products donated by Rituals, Goldwell, KMS California, and Clairns of Debenhams.Several local businesses including Glamlife Brighton, Peter Gosbee, and myclothes@home had the opportunity to exhibit their wares as vendors for the show. Guests had the chance of purchasing high fashion at discounted prices from the stalls selling jewellery, beauty products and handmade crafts.
