Number Six
6.10am
Swim - 26.36
Bike - 1.18.05
Run - 59.59
Triathlon number 6 done, ticking them off week by week as I promised. Last night was a bit restless, having fallen asleep just after midnight and then was wide awake by 3am. Always frustrating. But it’s not unusual as I’ve never slept more than about 4 hours a night since I was a kid. The secret is to keep your head silent and stop the doubts of the world slipping in, which they want to do especially when it’s dark and everyone else is asleep. I’m pretty good at that now as I’ve had a lot of practice, so all’s good.
I was up and at the swim by 6.10am and nailed that. Then onto the bike by 6.40am and nailed that. Then on went the shoes and I headed away from the seafront this time and went to the downs. The funny thing is though, that last week on the seafront I counted the Dryrobes and in the hour I got up to nine. This morning, and this is the honest truth, I counted the Dryrobes of the dog walkers on The Downs and got to eleven. Dryrobes on The Downs - Brilliant 🤣
Watch Rob Starr talk to BBC News about his 52x52 Challenge on the day he finished his 52nd and final Triathlon of the year!
A short blog to end; Triathlon 52/52 done. So pleased it’s over. Lots of money raised for the Starr Trust and I really hope it continues as there are so many young people who need our help.
That was one of the hardest yet both physically and mentally. Physically because my back is still in muscle spasm, caused by a Crohn's flare up that needed rest but didn’t get it. Mentally because the whole triathlon was done gym based, which meant no sea, no air, no trees, no birds - just a clock telling me I’ve hardly started!
