Triathlon 4 – 52x52 Challenge

Thursday 20/01/22

Number Four

7.30am

Swim - 27.51

Bike - 1.23.01

Run - 49.38

I’m definitely a morning person, always have been. Getting up at 6am and being in the sea by 6.30am is normal for me. Being on the bike riding the empty streets at 5am whilst Ironman training was the standard last year. But for some reason getting up at 6.30am to do my Triathlons seems to be a real challenge, in fact it’s currently the biggest part of the challenge at the moment. I need to get my head back into gear as otherwise this year is going to be a right pain!

I moved my Tri to Thursday this week as Friday (my preferred Tri day now) was starting at 6am with a zoom meeting to South Africa, then followed by hourly meetings until 3pm. So that was a no go for 3 hours exercise, so Thursday it was. The morning started with the same procrastination of looking at the clock at 5am and trying to convince myself to get going and eventually hitting the gym at 7.30am (latest I have done so far). The Triathlon itself was ok I guess, same struggle on the bike half way through, especially when the wi-fi went down and I didn’t have TV or radio for company (that was a proper challenge in the mind). But the run was pretty good, under 50 minutes, fastest run I’ve done in a while.

Four down now.

Next week I will be focusing on my mood and getting my head into a much more Rob Starr place 🤨

Triathlon 51 - 52x52 Challenge

Posted Nov 28, 2022

That was one of the hardest yet both physically and mentally. Physically because my back is still in muscle spasm, caused by a Crohn's flare up that needed rest but didn’t get it. Mentally because the whole triathlon was done gym based, which meant no sea, no air, no trees, no birds - just a clock telling me I’ve hardly started!
